Nestled within the heart of Samburu National Reserve in northern Kenya, Samburu Sopa Lodge is a midrange safari lodge offering guests panoramic views of the vast Samburu shrubland and distant hills. The lodge’s design reflects the traditional architecture of the local Samburu people, creating an authentic cultural experience.
Location and Accessibility
Samburu Sopa Lodge is situated inside the Samburu National Reserve, approximately 350 kilometers from Nairobi. Guests can reach the lodge by a six-hour drive from Nairobi or a 50-minute flight from Wilson Airport to the Samburu Oryx airstrip, followed by a short 10-minute transfer to the lodge.
Rooms and Tents
The lodge features 15 cottages, each with two spacious guest rooms, accommodating up to 120 guests. Two rooms are designed to be wheelchair accessible, ensuring comfort for all guests including the Elderly. Each room offers:
- Two queen-size beds
- En-suite bathroom with shower
- Private veranda overlooking a waterhole
- Locally inspired décor
Dining and Cuisine
The restaurant provides a unique dining experience with views of the Ewaso Nyiro River, where guests can observe hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat. Guests can enjoy meals at the Surpelei Restaurant, which offers:
- Buffet-style dining with a variety of international and local dishes
- Fresh, locally sourced ingredients
