Perched on the Oloolaimutia Hills’ slopes, Masai Mara Sopa Lodge is one of the first lodges built within the iconic Masai Mara Game Reserve. This midrange lodge offers a blend of comfort and cultural authenticity, designed to resemble traditional African roundhouses with conical roofs. Guests are welcomed into lush gardens filled with local flora, from sweet-smelling jasmine to towering desert cacti. The lodge’s location provides easy access to breathtaking wildlife safaris and panoramic views of the Mara’s rolling plains
Location and Accessibility
Masai Mara Sopa Lodge is located near the Masai Mara Game Reserve’s eastern border, approximately 240 kilometers (5 hours by road) from Nairobi. Accessible by both road and air, travelers can fly to the nearest airstrip (Olkurruk) in under an hour, followed by a scenic 30-minute drive to the lodge. Its proximity to the park entrance makes it an excellent base for game drives.
Rooms and Tents
The lodge offers 99 traditional-style guest rooms, including family suites and double rooms. All rooms are spacious, featuring ensuite bathrooms with hot showers, private verandas, and stunning views of the surrounding savannah. Guests can relax amidst locally inspired décor and enjoy modern amenities designed to ensure comfort while maintaining a rustic safari charm.
