We hope you’re excited about your upcoming trip to Kenya as we are to host you! As your trusted safari organizers, we want to keep you informed about the current situation in Kenya.
What’s Really Happening in Kenya?
Recently, Kenya has been experiencing some political demonstrations. These protests are mainly against the government and a controversial proposed Finance Bill that has stirred up quite a bit of debate. While there have been some clashes between protesters and security forces, the demonstrations are mostly localized to specific areas, particularly in Kenya’s parliament area and some roads around it. As I write this, the demonstrations have died down, and talks are ongoing with the president, and the stakeholders to find an amicable solution to the proposed finance bill which has been withdrawn.
Is It Safe to Travel?
The good news is that there are no travel bans or restrictions in place. Major transportation hubs, including Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, are fully operational. The Kenyan government and local authorities are managing the situation, ensuring that key tourist areas and travel routes are safe.
What Should You Do?
- Stay Informed: Keep an eye on local news and updates from reliable sources. We’re also here to provide you with the latest information as your travel dates approach.
- Avoid Protest Areas: We recommend steering clear of known demonstration zones if you are in Nairobi to ensure your safety. Most tourist attractions and safari destinations are far from the capital.
