After an early breakfast and drive towards Nakuru through Nairobi where you’ll have a lunch stopover and to the Great Rift Valley enjoying the scenic views arriving at Lake Nakuru early afternoon for a game drive. Retire to the campsite at dusk.
After breakfast, head to a nearby village with your local guides and get an opportunity to interact with the locals and get a feel of everyday life here. You will have a chance to sample local lunch in this village and then drive east to Lake Naivasha approximately 3hr. Your campsite tonight is at the shores of Lake Naivasha, one of the few freshwater lakes in the great rift valley. It is home to a healthy population of hippos, aquatic birds, and a variety of mammals including giraffes, antelopes and many more. You will have an opportunity to stop at a nearby town (Naivasha) and access the ATMs and visit a local market. Depending on availability, there may be an option to upgrade to a room. The campsite tonight has friendly showers and toilets with hot water.
Today is a free day to enjoy various optional activities offered around here. Venture to Hell's gate National Park, which has beautiful sceneries like cliffs, gorges, rock towers, geothermal phenomena, and ranges of volcanoes. A boat trip at Lake Naivasha is another activity to take and a visit to the Crescent Island. If you are looking for something challenging, hire a bike for the day and make some of your own discoveries venturing into the cacti, acacias and olive trees, or take a tour to the Crater Lake Lodge where you take a walk with giraffes and antelopes taking selfies.
Drive to the 8th wonder of the word Masai Mara from Loita after breakfast. This grassland savannah is famous for the great wildebeest and zebra migration which occur between the months of June to October. After setting up the camp, have lunch, then it’s time to jump into the jeeps and head for a game drive through the Masai Mara savannah. The campsite is located outside the game reserve and has the option of upgrades.
Today after breakfast explore this diverse National Reserve throughout the day. A full day game drive will be offered to see the multitude of animals and learn more about their behaviour and migration patterns. You will have your packed lunch in the savannah and thereafter head back to the camp. An optional balloon ride in the Mara is an unforgettable experience.
After breakfast, we head back to Nairobi. Take a break from pitching a tent and relax at a hotel. A refreshing cold drink by the poolside, or go stroll around the city under the sun and meet some local people.
MINIMUM SAFARI REQUIREMENTS |
What you need to bring will vary according to the trip style you have chosen, the countries you are visiting and when you are travelling. Generally speaking, we recommend you pack as lightly as possible and make sure that you are able to carry and lift your own luggage, and walk with it for short distances. Most travellers carry their luggage in a backpack, although an overnight bag with a shoulder strap would suffice if you travel lightly. Smaller bags or backpacks with wheels are convenient although we recommend your bag has carry straps. You'll also need a day pack/bag to carry water and a camera etc for day trips. Below are some ideas and helpful tips on what you specifically need for this trip.
ESSENTIALS: Please keep your luggage to a minimum. One small soft-sided bag plus a day pack (no more than 15-20kgs in total per person) is essential. We recommend against bringing hard/externally framed suitcases as they are difficult to store and can damage equipment and other travellers' belongings. If your trip is beginning and ending at the same location, excess luggage can usually be stored at your arrival/departure hotel and can be collected after your trip. VALUABLES:Please try to avoid bringing unnecessary valuables, and use your hotel safe. It’s also a good idea to purchase a money belt or pouch that is easily hidden. We strongly recommend that you photocopy all important documents e.g. air tickets, passport, vaccination certificate, etc. and keep the copies separate from the originals. While not valid, a photocopy makes it very much easier to obtain replacements if necessary. BATTERIES/POWER: Our trips have access to power to recharge batteries for phones and cameras every couple of days. We always recommend that you carry an extra battery or powerbank just in case. CONSERVATIVE DRESS FOR WOMEN:In many parts of Africa women travelers should dress modestly as there is a wide range of cultural differences. Wear skirts or shorts that reach just above the knee and tops that cover shoulders at a minimum. If visiting coastal areas wear a cover-up when you step off the beaches. |
