This safari will start by viewing Kilimanjaro from Amboseli National Park in Kenya, to climbing it in Arusha Tanzania. Amboseli National Park is famously known for the breathtaking panoramic view of Mt Kilimanjaro and the massive African Savannah Elephants that roam from marshlands, Swamps to Swamps of Amboseli in search of pasture. Fed by subterranean water channels, Water is abundant throughout the year and so is the pasture. Elephants and various other herbivores and carnivores are found here.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 : Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

You will be picked up by our company representative from the airport or your accommodation facility. After a short briefing about the safari, you will be handed over to your experienced driver guide in the morning for a scenic drive Southeast towards Amboseli National Park, arriving in good time for lunch. Embark on your first afternoon game drive at 16:00hrs exploring the acacia woodland, Freshwater swamps, scrub brush, and open plains in search of wildlife. A part of the park is composed of a dried-up lake bed, where mirages rise from the shimmering heat. Return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and overnight stay.

Amboseli National Park (392 sq km) is famously known for the breathtaking panoramic view of Mount Kilimanjaro, The tallest freestanding mountain on earth and the tallest in Africa (5,895m). Amboseli is also an elephant’s paradise where the massive African Savannah Elephants roam from swamp to swamp, grazing all day. Other animals to be spotted here are cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests (gnus), gazelles, hippos, and many others.

Day 2 : Amboseli- Amboseli

Leave the camp after breakfast, carrying your packed lunch to be enjoyed in the wild. Spend the whole day exploring the marshlands and swamps of Amboseli which are fed by subterranean water channels. Water is abundant throughout the year and so is the pasture. Elephants and various other herbivores are found here. Retreat to the lodge late in the afternoon after a long exploration of this 392sq km.

You'll also have an option of starting the day with an early morning game drive to search for animals when they're at their most active. Then return to the lodge for a relaxed breakfast and lunch.

Spend the hottest part of the day relaxing in camp reading your favourite book or writing your journal about the safari or just listening to your favourite music while observing the birds – don't stress, The animals will be doing the same – then head off again in the afternoon at (16:00hrs)for another drive through the park. Return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and over night.

Day 3 : Amboseli to Arusha

Today after breakfast, You will head towards the border separating Kenya and Tanzania ( Namanga boarder post), Prepare to pay for your visa which cost $50 (Visa cards NOT accepted) then after clearing the border, You will be transferred to our Tanzanian driver guide then proceed to Arusha (approximately 2hrs from the boarder) Arriving at your hotel in good time for lunch. After lunch, you'll have an optional city tour, Arusha Museum visit or just relaxing in your hotel while listening to your favourite music while preparing for your Mt Kilimanjaro Climbing experience tomorrow.

Day 4 : Arusha to Machame Camp

Departing from Arusha 45-minute drive will take you through the Village of Machame to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. We will patiently wait for our permits to be issued while watching the hustle and bustle of operations as many crews prepare for the journey ahead Enjoy the beautiful rainforest scenery and windy trails while your guide tells you about the local flora and fauna and natural wildlife. At these lower elevations, the trail can be muddy and quite slippery. We highly recommend gaiters and trekking poles here.

Day 5 : Machame to shira Camp

After a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast, we emerge from the rain forest and continue on an ascending path, crossing the valley along a steep rocky ridge. The route now turns west onto a river gorge until we arrive at the Shira campsite. Temperatures begin to drop.

Day 6 : Shira Camp - Lava Tower To Barranco Camp

Elevation: 3839m/12,595ft to 3986m/13,077ft Altitude gained: 147m Although you end the day around the same elevation as when you began, this day is very important for acclimatization. From Shira Plateau we continue east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the Kibo peak before we then continue, South East towards the Lava Tower, called the “Shark’s Tooth” (elev. 4650m/15,250ft). Shortly after the tower, we come to a second junction, which leads to the Arrow Glacier. We then continue to descend to overnight at Barranco Camp.

Day 7 : Barranco To Karanga camp

Elevation: 3986m/13,077ft to 4034m/13,235ft Altitude gained: 48m After breakfast, we continue on a steep ridge up to the adventurous Barranco Wall to the Karanga Valley and the junction, which connects, with the Mweka Trail. This is one of the most impressive days to see the power, agility, and strength of your crew zip over this wall with what appears such ease. Overnight at Karanga Camp.

Day 8 : Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Elevation: 4034m/13,235ft to 4662m/15,295ft Altitude gained: 628m We continue up toward Barafu Camp, and once reached you have now completed the South Circuit, which offers a variety of breathtaking viewsof the summit from many different angles. An early dinner and rest as we prepare for summit night Overnight at Barafu Camp.

Day 9 : Barafu Camp - Summit - Mweka Camp

Excitement is building as morning comes with an early start between midnight and 2 a.m. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. We continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers trying to stay warm and focused on the amazing sense of accomplishment that lies ahead. With a switchback motion in a north westerly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim.

You will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise during your short rest here. Faster hikers may view the sunrise from the summit. From here on your remaining 1hour ascent to Uhuru Peak, you are likely to encounter snow all the way.

Congratulations, one step at a time you have now reached Uhuru Peak the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the entire continent of Africa! After. Overnight Mweka Camp.

Day 10 : Mweka - Moshi to Arusha

Elevation: 3106m/10,190ft to 1633m/5358ft Altitude lost: 1473m After breakfast and a heartfelt ceremony of appreciation and team bonding with your crew, it’s time to say goodbye. We continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. As the weather is drastically warmer, the terrain is wet, muddy and steep and we highly recommend Gaiters and trekking poles.

From the gate, a vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to your hotel Arusha (about 58 minutes). Enjoy a long overdue hot shower, dinner and celebrations!
